3D Art Foundations in Unity

A 6-week live online course focused on mastering the foundational visual design skills for creating immersive experiences. You'll learn how to create 3D models and assets, animations, lighting, particles and post-process effects using Unity. 

This course does not assume any previous experience with Unity. We'll start at the beginning and work our way up to building an AAA environment.

Courses are taught live twice a week for 90 minutes each. By the end of the course, you will learn the foundational tools and skills needed to create and design realistic 3D environments, covering key topics such as creating 3D models and assets, animation, lighting, particles and post-processing effects.

Office Hours

1Session
/week

Office hours are held live once a week for 90 minutes and are intended to give students support as they progress throughout the course.

Students are encouraged to bring questions which will be answered in real time. Troubleshooting, code logic, insights into design and more.

  • Unity Version 2019 or greater (Free Download)
  • A laptop or computer (Mac or PC) with internet connectivity

1 Unity Fundamentals

Learning Outcomes:

- Navigating the Unity Interface

- Organizing a Project in Unity

- Creating and using Prefabs and Variants

Learning Outcomes:

- Import and configure assets

- Apply textures and materials

- Create realistic terrains

Learning Outcomes:

- Creating skyboxes

- Applying different types of lighting to your scene

- Creating reflection probes

- Generating light maps

- Animating 3D objects

- Importing and animating rigged characters

- Creating cutscenes

- Creating particle effects

- Applying post-processing effects to your final env

Jason has worked in the VR/AR industry since 2012 and worked with big data since 2016. He has built and managed over 25 applications and delivered projects for VR, AR, iOS, Android, custom hardware, web, and film. He has an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Digital Media.

Jerry Medeiros is a game development and AI expert with more than 10 years of experience using his skills to create games and XR training and simulations. As a Unity Certified Instructor, he is passionate about teaching the latest emerging technologies. He has an undergraduate degree in Game Development, a graduate in Interaction Design and a Master’s degree in Computer Science.

He has taught game and web programming/design at the University of Lincoln and the University of Sussex in the UK over a span of 4 years.
