Circuit Stream was formed to help working professionals and companies learn how to create virtual reality and augmented reality applications and share them with customers around the world.
We’re a team of makers, designers, programmers, artists, entrepreneurs, problem solvers, and teachers specialized in a virtual reality and augmented reality course for technology including Google VR, Samsung Gear VR, HTC Vive, Oculus, Windows Mixed Reality, ARKit, ARCore, and Microsoft Hololens.
Circuit Stream teaches a 10-week online VR and AR Development with Unity course for creating virtual reality and augmented reality apps. Our VR and AR training takes a hands-on approach, working 1-on-1 with participants, to share skills, tools, and contacts to help you make VR and AR applications.
Our journey into virtual reality began with a love for technology and media, and a desire to work at their intersection. Before diving into VR, founder Lou Pushelberg was hustling to get a mobile product off the ground. During this time, Lou explains, “I’d been thinking, what was the next big platform? What was coming after the internet and smartphone? So by the time Oculus Rift launched on Kickstarter in 2013, I was already obsessed.”
Using a second-hand Oculus DK1 running on an old gaming computer, Circuit Stream’s journey commenced. I downloaded my first VR app, Surge and was spellbound with the magic and power of VR. It wasn’t long until Oculus was acquired by Facebook.
“These big computing platforms come around every 10 years … I think it’s time to start working on the next one.” — Mark Zuckerberg
In 2014, Lou began assembling a team of instructors. Lead instructor Jason Campbell had recently transitioned from the film industry was completing a masters degree in Digital Media in Vancouver BC where he met Lou. Jason had been prototyping applications for the Oculus DK1 while Lou was working for one of VR’s first social networking startups. Lou explains, “With a shared passion for the possibilities of virtual reality, and inevitably augmented reality, Jason and I instantly clicked and he became our lead instructor.”
“Days later, I made a plan to drive across the West Coast to visit the largest VR and AR hubs in Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. I was a sponge. I wanted to understand everything I could about creating VR applications and the opportunities in the industry.”
“I met technologists at Stanford’s Virtual Human Interaction Lab, where they’ve conducted over 20 years of VR research. I also visited USC’s MxR program in the Institute for Creative Technologies, where Oculus was founded.
“While I had experience working in virtual reality, I realized that learning how to create great VR apps was still really difficult,” Lou explains. “Everyone was in the pioneering phase, and there wasn’t a platform to connect you with new knowledge from the industry.
“It was like this black hole on the edge of the industry. How do you start making applications for virtual reality? How do you become a virtual reality developer, designer, or content creator?”
Circuit Stream was created to bridge this gap. We wanted to give participants the best VR course with step-by-step skills to create VR apps in Unity. Our goal was to establish an environment where anyone new to VR could learn directly from professionals in a personal setting — from beginner, through intermediate, to advanced.
In 2016 we traveled around the country teaching virtual reality courses to over 500 participants. Here’s a sample of their experiences:
“Having an instructor who has experience really helps guide you along the right path. Beginners get a great introduction to Unity … and get to jump in right away to create their own app.” – Tyrell Lewin, Founder Lit Tech Studios
Unlike many courses that don’t take a hands-on approach, at Circuit Stream, we work 1-on-1 with all our participants acting as your own personal VR mentor and consultant. We’ve had participants with no experience start our virtual reality course, who quickly learned the technical skills recognized by the industry and began creating their own VR applications.
“I was so scared about touching Unity! It felt so overwhelming … Circuit Stream made it so easy to learn compared to other online courses. In Circuit Stream classes you actually interact with other students. It changed the way I think about virtual reality.” – Brenda Cordova, Digital Marketer
We’ve helped course participants envision virtual reality for their field of work including architects, airport designers, educators, chemical engineers, IT professionals, web developers, graphic designers, filmmakers and even actors! All participants receive a certificate in virtual reality development and have access to the Circuit Stream network of instructors and partners. After completing a Circuit Stream course, working professionals have gone on to create their own apps, get jobs in the industry, and even started their own businesses.
Since beginning with only one instructor, Circuit Stream has grown to a team of over 15 educators, business people, and professional instructors from the virtual reality industry. Instructors have been hand-picked based on their experience working for some of the top VR companies, and creating their own VR applications for headsets like the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Samsung GearVR, Google Daydream, and Microsoft Hololens.
Circuit Stream’s vision is to provide the opportunity for working professionals and companies to venture out and explore this powerful new technology, creating their own VR ideas and publishing them for customers around the world.
Bottom line, Lou says, “Circuit Stream wants to help you create best in class VR apps so you can get out there and introduce the next virtual reality app with millions of downloads and customers around the world.”
Circuit Stream’s 10-week courses run on a continuous basis, offering virtual reality training based on applicable real-world experience designed to give participants the skills, contacts, and confidence to kick start their virtual reality venture.
We look forward to sharing the tools, resources, and capabilities of this transformative new technology with you. Sign up for Circuit Stream’s free introductory class or contact us today.
