Why take this course?
The future of design is in 3-dimensional, digital space. That means we as UX designers have to get out of our 2D thinking and start designing for 3D space. The good news is that you don’t have to ditch everything you already know about 2D design to design for VR. However, there are some essential differences that you’ll need to learn.
When most designers start to transition into the VR space, we tend to want to stick with the tools with which we’re most comfortable - traditional 2D design tools. However, with VR design, we’re no longer confined to a 2D screen with a limited screen size. That means we need to get out of our 2D thinking and start designing for 360-degree 3 dimensional space.
- How to create a basic information architecture structure for VR.
- How to gain design inspiration through competitive landscaping.
- How to use bodystorming to break out of 2D thinking.
- How to utilize 3D modelling sources that allow you to gather assets for your prototype.
- Tips on creating a VR prototype using ShapesXR and sharing it with potential clients.
Why UX Design and Prototyping
The methods currently used for user research and usability testing are the same for the most part. Some of the biggest hurdles you’re going to face transitioning to 3D design are the design and prototyping methods and the UX best practices for VR. That’s why it’s a good idea to focus your time learning these tools and methods for creating VR experiences.
Who is this course for:
- Existing UX designers wanting to transition to VR design
