Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and Mixed Reality is an industry that is seeing growth, and there is no doubt about that. Over the last couple of years, we’ve seen the world open up to the possibilities of XR through the adoption of the technology. In the enterprise world, we’ve seen this in industries including and not limited to industrial, telecommunication, medicinal, and education. According to Business Wire (2021), this growth is not stopping any time soon as “the Extended Reality Market size is projected to be growing at a CAGR of 66.02% during 2021 to 2027”. This growth is not only impacting enterprise, but as we see tech companies such as Apple and Facebook develop their products towards XR for more mainstream use, we’re going to see other day-to-day applications follow suit to keep their products and applications in trend with the latest. This will have a big impact on the demand for skills and the job market today.

As a leading educator in XR, it is our duty to build opportunities towards that growing market, by teaching the in-demand skills and creating pathways for our students to master them in preparation for what is to come. With that in mind, through the introduction to our new certification programs, learners will be able to receive a portfolio of industry-recognized credentials that will effectively validate one’s expertise in building and creating XR.

Read on as we discuss our new certifications, what they are, their framework, and how they can help you accelerate your XR career.

What is the Circuit Stream Certification?

Circuit Stream Certification is an industry-recognized credential that enables you to validate your skills in designing, developing, and building immersive experiences (AR/VR/MR). By earning this certification , learners will be able to confidently prove their advanced knowledge and core skills that employers seek in today’s XR industry.

Our certifications are defined by Open Badge standards (OBv2),  which is used to validate what each digital credential represents through associated metadata uniquely connected to learners.

With this technology, the digital credentials learners receive from Circuit Stream will contain crucial information about the skills they have obtained through the course.

The Open Badge system presents several benefits to learners:

  • Portable credentials. These certifications suit the digital age and a remote working lifestyle, as you can easily display your badges across your online channels and prove your worth globally.
  • Verifiable skills. These badges offer a level of transparency that simplifies hiring and builds trust with organizations. Wherever you go, prospective employers and schools can explore the data behind Circuit Stream certifications to confirm your competencies.
  • Intuitive updates. As you continue your XR education or pursue other Circuit Stream courses, your open badge data will update to reflect your new skills.

OBv2 Technology

By leveraging  Credly’s platform, learners will be able to more easily showcase evidence of their achievement and recognize the skills they have earned, by giving them the tools to manage, share and verify their certification. In addition, Credly’s platform gives learners labor market insights allowing them explore job opportunities that match the skills they have earned.

In addition to the above, Circuit Stream has built a strong partnership with Unity. As of 2021, Unity is the engine behind 65% of all AR/VR globally. We're proud to have a close working partnership with Unity. We became an official Unity Channel partner in 2020 and recently collaborated on Unity certification courses to help people acquire real-time 3D skills.

Our Framework: Pathways to become industry-recognized XR professionals

Our digital credentials are split between Course Badges and Core Certifications with separate design and development streams.

    • The badges confirm your specialization in a particular area based on core certifications.
